Although it may sound like a reference to the small town in Hays County, Wimberly Tribble’s first name is actually a tribute to her grandmother’s last name. Nevertheless, you’ll still find a sign on her Henkel Square store that alludes to the coincidence: “Wimberly in Round Top.”

There may not be a Texas connection in her store’s name, but it still has Texas roots. Wimberly, Inc. began as a jewelry and accessory design business over 20 years ago in Austin, with Wimberly designing and creating her own jewelry by hand. After gaining a following by showing twice a year at the Round Top Antiques Show, she and her family moved to Round Top to open a permanent storefront, where she sells personalized and one-of-a-kind items that are primarily her designs.

“Since most of our items are handmade and our unique antiques and collections have been handpicked by me, it’s a different experience every time you come to the store,” she explains. “My team and I have invested ourselves in the store, and everyone brings their own flavor and strengths to the business. You can’t find this stuff anywhere else.”

Vintage cowboy boots, barware, handmade jewelry, handbag lines and clothing are among the things you can find when you visit Wimberly, Inc. There are also clothing, jewelry and accessory lines – such as a line of dresses from Mexico – whose proceeds give back to the communities in which they were made, something Wimberly is passionate about.

But she doesn’t do it alone – she has a team of people that are just as dedicated to the store as she is. “The employees of my store, Debbie and Ashley, and my husband Michael are so passionate about our business and let that show in the work they do here every day,” Wimberly says. “I couldn’t do this without them.”

And even through the challenges that COVID-19 continues to present to every business in Round Top, Wimberly takes comfort in the tight-knit community here. “Everyone here is so warm and friendly and supportive. Every business here just wants to support one another,” she says.
