Round Top’s no ordinary town – every shop, restaurant and business here puts their own little spin on things. So you already know that when you walk into Pop-A-Top Bottle Shop Too, you’re not going to find an ordinary liquor store – you’ll be greeted with the Round Top version, where you’re invited to learn about the people who work there and the products they sell, and, of course, to sit under the large oak trees out front with a drink for as long as you like. That’s just how life works around here, and while you may leave with the same products from larger liquor stores in the city, you certainly won’t have the same experience.
The original Pop-A-Top Bottle Shop in La Grange has been around for over 50 years, and when Tiffany Reid and her husband bought the store in 2018, she was soon approached by Mark Massey about opening a Round Top location. Tiffany fell in love with the converted dog-trot house in Henkel Square, and the rest is history – after nearly 30 years lacking a liquor store, Round Top finally had one again in February of 2019.
Inside, you’ll find a large selection of spirits and wine, including a room dedicated to scotch, bourbon and whiskey, all set within a rustic antique vibe. The staff is knowledgeable and always eager to share what they know about the different types of beverages they offer, and if you can’t find what you need, Tiffany is happy to special order it to the shop within two days. The best part? Pop-A-Top Bottle Shop Too is one of the few businesses in Round Top that is open late: they close at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The shop stays open until 9 p.m. during the Antique Shows.
“Everyone has been so nice and warm and happy to have us here,” Tiffany says of opening her business in Round Top. “We’re so pleased with how welcoming and inviting the community has been.”
