Round Top Chamber of Commerce Member Spotlight: Lark

Sep 15, 2019 | Chamber News

Scattered Light Jewelry is the centerpiece of Lark, a dreamy lifestyle and gift store located in Rummel Square in Round Top and owned by couple Russell Smith and Barbara Samuelson. The pieces are handmade by Smith, who says that the inspiration behind the name comes from his wife’s upbringing in Minnesota – she would often hear weather reports calling for “scattered light showers,” and at certain times of year, the ethereal northern lights can be seen in Minnesota’s dark skies.

The name seemed to fit the unique pieces of jewelry that draw inspiration from nature itself. The couple had been participating in art shows for 20 years, and finally decided they wanted folks to come to them. Thus, Lark was born – and Russell compliments Barbara on the wonderful job she’s done merchandising and decorating the store, where the two owners focus on items and pieces of jewelry that can’t be found anywhere else in Round Top.

In addition to the jewelry, you’ll find vintage barware, unique candles, perfume and books for out-of-the-box gift giving. Stop by on weekends, and you may be able to try some homemade hard cider whipped up by Barbara and Russell.

“We love the people in Round Top,” says Russell. “We’ve met so many wonderful folks. We’re proud to be Chamber members because we think the Round Top Chamber of Commerce is forward-thinking and trying to do things that benefit all of their members.”
